“The main “targets” of the participants were the cars of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and volunteer organizations,” the report says.
According to the investigation, both detainees are local unemployed people aged 18 and 37, who were looking for a way to make quick money through Telegram channels. It was there that they came under the influence of the Russian special services.
As it became known, each of the participants acted independently.
One of them was arrested “on hot pursuit” during an attempt to set fire to the minibus of a veteran of the Armed Forces, who was using the car to transport volunteer aid.
After setting fire to the volunteer transport, the attacker was supposed to carry out a series of sabotages at the facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia, but the law enforcement officers thwarted his plans.
The second suspect was tasked with setting fire to military trucks “Ural” and “KrAZ”. He was already preparing for the crime, but he was caught when he tried to set these trucks on fire.
According to the results of the investigation, both detainees were notified of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: ch. 1 Art. 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations); h 3 Art. 15, ch. 1 Art. 114-1 (unfinished attempt to obstruct the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
The perpetrators are in custody, they face up to 8 years in prison.
