The German government has ordered 54 RCH 155 wheeled howitzers to be delivered to Ukraine. This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Tuesday, January 14, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“155 [гаубиця]which we presented yesterday in Kassel, is truly a masterpiece of engineering science. And they are really very special. And we have already ordered 54 for Ukraine. On January 13, it became known that Pistorius handed over the first of 54 RCH 155 wheeled howitzers to Ukraine to strengthen the artillery of the Defense Forces.
The howitzer was symbolically accepted by the ambassador of Ukraine Oleksiy Makeev, Stuttgarter Zeitung reported. It is noted that the first six RCH 155 howitzers transferred to Ukraine will remain in Germany to be used for the training of the Ukrainian military.
The RCH 155 is manufactured by the German-French company KNDS, which describes it as “the world’s most advanced wheeled howitzer”, allowing for the first time to fire while moving. The 155mm gun is mounted on a four-axle armored wheeled vehicle.
