The procedure for escorting persons released on parole from serving a sentence was also approved.
This was announced by the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Taras Melnychuk.
He shared what was approved:
- the procedure for taking convicted conscripts into the military register, conscripts, their passing of a military medical commission and professional and psychological selection;
- the list of TCCs and SPs that carry out military registration of persons released on parole;
- the procedure for escorting persons released on parole from serving a sentence by the National Guard to territorial recruitment and social support centers, as well as relevant units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a specialized unit of a military unit for signing a contract and completing military service;
- the order of interaction of territorial recruitment and social support centers, penal institutions and the National Guard.
Mobilization of prisoners in UkraineWe will remind that on May 17, 2024, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a law according to which certain categories of prisoners are allowed to mobilize into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This law was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on May 8.
In July, the Associated Press found out that the mobilization of prisoners in Ukraine is gaining momentum. Authorities say interest in the program among inmates has exceeded expectations.
In addition, the deputy commander of the Third Assault Division Maksym Zhorin spoke about the fact that the former prisoners, mobilized into the army, proved themselves worthily during the fighting in the Kharkiv direction as part of the brigade. According to him, these fighters have already participated in the brigade’s offensive operations.
