On January 12, 2025, near the village of Yampol, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region, the president of the Podolie football club Vasylkovtsy was killed Mikhail Koval. This is reported by the Ternopil Football Association: 
“A great grief has come to the football family of Ternopil region – the president of FC Podolie (Vasylkovtsi) Mikhail Olegovich Koval (born November 18, 1990) died in the war.
Big loss and pain for the Kovalei family, the Podolie team, the Vasylkovets community and the entire Ternopil region.
The Football Association of Ternopil expresses its deepest condolences to family, friends, relatives and everyone who knew Mikhail. Eternal memory! Rest with God! Heroes don’t die!”
Mikhail Koval died at the age of 34.
