“When Putin invaded Ukraine, he thought he would capture Kyiv in a matter of days. In fact, after the war began, I visited the center of Kyiv, not him. Putin did not do that,” the American president joked.
“It was a long train ride! But I am the only commander-in-chief (USA. – Ed.) who has visited a combat zone that is not controlled by US troops,” he added.
According to the president, the US helped Ukraine and stopped Putin, so for almost three years of full-scale invasion, he “failed to achieve any strategic goal.”
“He still hasn’t managed to conquer Ukraine. He hasn’t managed to break the unity of NATO. He hasn’t managed to seize significant territories,” Biden listed.
Later, he named the two tasks he had set for himself since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion: to rally the world in support of Ukraine and to “avoid a war between two nuclear powers.”
“We succeeded in both. And today, Ukraine is still a free and independent country that has the potential for a bright future. We have laid the groundwork for the next administration so that they can protect the bright future of the Ukrainian people,” Biden concluded.
Earlier, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the current US leadership is making efforts to secure the strongest positions in foreign policy for the next Trump administration.
