First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko reported that at least 50 people’s deputies of Ukraine, 8.5% of the members of the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation, received suspicions.

He said this during the presentation of the research results: “Rada-9. Results”.

“I think that we will see the consequences of canceling untouchability for a long time. At least 50 people’s deputies with suspicions is an indicator. It is probably difficult to perceive, because it is 8.5% of the composition. I do not think that in any other stratum of society there is such a percentage of corrupt people. No, there is no such thing. That is, there is a question, and society must draw conclusions. This is a purely political story,” Kornienko said.

In general, he called the abolition of untouchability one of the key factors that influenced the work of the parliament of this convocation.

“The work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation was generally influenced by three important factors: the abolition of the inviolability of people’s deputies, the overcoming of push-button behavior and such a shameful phenomenon as revoting issues,” said Kornienko.

According to him, the number of repeated second readings and rejected draft laws has increased compared to the last convocation.

“If the draft law is rejected, then it cannot be introduced in this session. This is what prompts the subjects of the legislative initiative to work better on the quality of the projects and their content,” said Kornienko.

The first vice-speaker also noted many challenges that befell the parliament of the ninth convocation, in particular, the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

“There was turbo mode, Covid-19, and corrective spam. There were draft laws that greatly delayed the work of the parliament from the point of view of the procedure… But despite the fact that this “technology” returns from time to time, laws are adopted,” explained the first vice-speaker.

We will remind you that it was recently reported that a deputy of the Zhytomyr Regional Council is suspected of fraud with the price of electricity. He connected his own shopping center to a “household” electricity supply tariff instead of a “commercial” one. Because of this, the state energy companies did not receive UAH 3.4 million.

And in Vinnytsia, a deputy of the rural council – the head of a farm is suspected of arbitrarily seizing more than 200 hectares of particularly valuable state land. They are intended for research and educational purposes.
