Russian troops continue active combat operations in several directions of the front in Ukraine, including the Kupyan, Toretsk, Pokrovsky, and Kurakhiv directions.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for January 13, the enemy does not stop trying to break through the defense lines of the Armed Forces and gain a foothold in strategically important areas of the front.
Kupyan direction
In the east of Ukraine, the occupiers are intensifying attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian army in the area of the settlements of Petropavlivka and Dvorichna. Russian troops are using artillery and armored vehicles, trying to advance to Kupyansk itself. However, the Ukrainian side continues to successfully repulse attacks and inflict blows on Russian units, which leads to significant losses among the enemy’s personnel and equipment.
Offensive in Sumy region
Geolocation data and reports from local residents indicate the crossing of the border by Russian troops in the area of the village of Zhuravka, Kursk Region. The invaders advanced to the west, trying to create a bridgehead for further offensive actions. There is also unconfirmed information about a possible advance in the area of the village of Prohody. In response, Ukrainian forces have strengthened defense measures to prevent the expansion of the conflict zone in this region.
Donetsk direction
Particularly heavy fighting continues in the districts of Hryhorivka, Belogorivka and Chasovoy Yar. Russian forces make numerous assault attempts, but they did not manage to achieve significant success. The enemy has concentrated additional forces and equipment in Toretsk and Pokrovsk, where it is increasing pressure on Ukrainian defense lines.
In some areas, the use of civilian clothes by Russian units and attempts to introduce sabotage groups were recorded, which indicates a violation of international humanitarian norms of warfare.
An attack on an oil storage facility in the Saratov region
Against the background of fierce hostilities, sabotage operations continue on Russian territory. The governor of the Saratov region reported a fire at an oil storage facility ““Krystal Plant”, which arose after a drone strike, allegedly launched by the Ukrainian side.
