A FOOTBALL fan was killed by a bus after he fought with a man at a KFC and ran away into a road, an inquest heard.

Crystal Palace supporter Liam Foley, pictured above, was hit by the double-decker in Brixton, South London, after a night out celebrating a 2-1 win over Leicester City.

Police said Liam, who was with his brother Niall and a pal, jumped the queue at KFC and was removed by security.

He “bantered” with a group of five men outside but witnesses said he punched one of them.

The Inner London South inquest was told he was seen on CCTV being pursued by two men and running into the road, where the bus hit him in the early hours of April 2, 2023.

The business development manager, 28 and of East London, donated organs to four people.

Mike Foley, Liam’s father, told the inquest he held “no feelings of ill will or revenge” towards those involved in the incident.

He added: “No one woke up on that Saturday morning and intended Liam harm.”

Paying tribute to his son, Mr Foley said: “Liam was loved every day of his life by his family, his girlfriend and his hundreds of friends.”

He also quoted W H Auden’s poem Funeral Blues, or Stop all the Clocks, saying: “Liam was my north, south, east and west.”

Mr Foley told the inquest that Liam provided the “rare gift” of a double lung transplant to one individual.

Assistant coroner for Inner London South Michelle Haste concluded the cause of death was road traffic collision in the “distressing” case.

“It seems this young man was a very popular young man with friends and family and it seems, given his organ donation, he has given a lot in death,” she added.

Verdict: Road traffic collision.
