Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that it is important for the country that the peace comes, but “serious security guarantees” are needed for the state and Europe. Zelensky said this in an interview with the Italian TV channel RaiNews24.
– It is very important for us that the world comes. We want the world the most. And this is understandable, because we lose the most, primarily people. But before anything is agreed upon, it is very important that these are serious security guarantees for Ukraine and for the whole of Europe. This is the protection of Ukraine and security guarantees – that Russia will not return again with aggression, as it was after the occupation of Crimea in 2014, and then in 2015, – said Zelensky.
The head of state emphasized that the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, “wants and has always wanted to destroy Ukraine completely”, which is his dream. Instead, Kyiv’s dream in 2025 is to obtain security guarantees and end the war.
– This is a fact. This is his (Putin’s) dream. And you don’t have to believe in other fairy tales. Therefore, Ukraine should be given such security guarantees that will not give it the opportunity to come again with war. It is our dream to get guarantees this year and to end the war this year. We will do everything for this, said Zelensky.
- On January 9, Zelenskyi arrived at the Ramstein base in Germany to participate in a meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine. Speaking at the meeting, Zelenskyi said that he is doing everything possible to end the war already this year.
- On November 8, the president said that the fact that Ukraine is not a member of NATO caused Russia to attack.
