On Friday, January 10, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi had a telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden.
In his Telegram channel, Zelensky clarified that he thanked Biden for the support given to Ukraine in the war, which was unleashed by Russia.
The parties also discussed the details of the new US sanctions package on Russian energy, which Washington announced on January 10.
“It is very important that America has now hit the shadow tanker fleet of Russia and such companies as Gazpromneft and Surgutnaftogaz, which accumulate money for Putin personally. He should feel the price of his war, losing out of his wallets,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky and Biden also discussed the situation on the battlefield. In particular, it was about strengthening Ukrainian air defense. Separately, Zelensky thanked the USA for the provided Patriot systems, which “showed their strength in the hands of Ukrainians”.
Zelenskyi also expressed his condolences in connection with the large-scale fires in California. He also noted the heroism of Americans who continue to fight forest fires and save the lives of local residents.
