Annual inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 12% in December 2024. Consumer prices increased by 1.4% compared to November, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reports.
According to the State Statistics Service, core inflation in December was 1.3% compared to November, and for the year as a whole – 10.7%.
Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.8% in December. In particular, the price of butter, sunflower oil, milk and dairy products, vegetables, bread, beef, fish, pasta and pork rose by 5.2-1.0%. At the same time, egg prices fell by 1.5%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 2.0%, in particular, tobacco products – by 2.7%, alcoholic beverages – by 1.2%.
Clothing and footwear became cheaper by 3.9%, with footwear becoming cheaper by 4.0% and clothing by 3.9%.
Prices for health care increased by 1.6%, which was mainly due to an increase in prices for pharmaceuticals by 1.8% and outpatient services by 1.6%.
Transport prices also rose by 0.5%, mostly due to a 2.1% increase in bus fares.
Demand for the currency dropped sharply in early 2025. The National Bank reduced sales from reserves to cover the structural currency deficit.
At the end of October, the National Bank of Ukraine sold 707.9 million dollars on the interbank foreign exchange market without purchasing foreign currency.
