In 2024, almost UAH 2.2 billion was allocated to strengthening the Ukrainian-Belarusian border within Zhytomyr region.

Vitaliy Bunechko, head of Zhytomyr OVA, informed the correspondent of Ukrinform about this.

“In 2024, almost 2.2 billion hryvnias were allocated to the construction of fortifications and the strengthening of the defense capability of the border in Zhytomyr Oblast. Of them, UAH 1.9 billion is from the reserve fund of the state budget, over UAH 130 million is from the regional budget, and more than UAH 70 million are community funds,” Bunechko said.

In particular, together with border guards, a network of observation towers equipped with modern cameras, thermal imagers, night vision systems, starlinks and generators was created.

In addition, together with the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a deeply echeloned defense system of the region is being developed, which includes fortification and engineering facilities.

As reported by Ukrinform, the construction of fortifications on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border has been completed in the Zhytomyr region.
