In Rome, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella.
The head of state thanked for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for constant attention to our country during the Italian presidency of the Group of Seven.
“I remember all our meetings, and they always ended with us finding answers to very difficult questions. One of the difficult issues is the protection of people’s rights in Ukraine, the protection of our sovereignty and territorial integrity. I am very glad that your position in support of Ukraine, our people, our children has always been stable,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine talked about the situation on the front line and Russian missile terror against civilians.
During the meeting, they discussed the continuation of military aid to Ukraine. The head of state thanked Italy for the significant military and technical support and, in particular, the approval of the 10th aid package.
Separately, he emphasized that Ukraine needs joint steps of the partner countries to end the war with a just and lasting peace.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi also noted the principled position of Italy regarding compliance with the sanctions policy against Russia.
Among the key topics of the negotiations is the return home of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
The President also thanked for taking care of Ukrainian orphans who are in Italy due to Russian aggression.
In addition, they discussed the preparation of the international conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held on July 10-11 in Rome. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Italian specialists can join the reconstruction of Ukrainian cultural heritage.
The Head of State invited the President of Italy to visit Ukraine.
