Trump did not give a specific date for the talks, but confirmed that a meeting was being discussed.
“President Putin wants to meet. He even said so publicly, and we have to put an end to this war,” added Trump, referring to the war in Ukraine.
The Kremlin has not yet commented on Trump’s statement. However, Putin’s press secretary Dmytro Peskov told reporters the day before that if Trump retains the intention to contact the Russian ruler after the inauguration on January 20, it will be welcomed in Moscow.
