Nikiforov said that the topics that Zelensky will discuss in Italy include:
- defense support;
- The international conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in Italy in the summer:
- coordination of international efforts to achieve peace:
- Euro-Atlantic integration.
Also, one of the topics will be devoted to the discussion of cooperation within the G7, in particular regarding sanctions against Russia.
Zelenskyi’s meeting with Maloney will take place immediately after the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine (Ramstein format). During it, the head of the Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umyerov, talked with his Italian counterpart about missiles for air defense systems that Italy can provide to Ukraine.
It should be noted that on January 9, US President Joe Biden was also supposed to visit Rome, where, according to the White House, he was supposed to meet with Pope Francis, Maloney and Mattarella.
However, it became known that he will not go to Italy because of the fires raging in California.
