General Staff: in the Dnieper direction, Russian troops tried to push the Armed Forces near two islands

In the Dnieper direction, Russian troops tried twice without success to suppress the Defense Forces in the area of ​​Kozatskyi and Zabych islands, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a summary.

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 144 combat clashes at the front, most of the battles were in the Pokrovsky direction. On this part of the front, the enemy carried out 37 assaults and offensive operations near the settlements of Baranivka, Myrolyubivka, Elizavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Zvirove, Novy Trud, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Uspenivka, Novovasylivka, Novoandriivka, and Novoelizavetivka. Seven clashes are still ongoing.

In the Kursk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 Russian attacks, one battle is still ongoing.

The headquarters notes that Russian forces are also intensively attacking in the Kurakhiv direction, where there have already been 23 battles near Srybny, Andriivka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhivka, and Dachny.

Russian troops also continue their attacks of lower intensity in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Siver, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, and Vremy directions. The enemy did not conduct active operations in the Gulyaipil and Orihiv directions.

The DeepState project and the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russian army in the first days of 2025 is actively capturing new territories to the south, southeast and east of Pokrovsk.
