Numerous world leaders, former US presidents and other dignitaries gathered at the farewell ceremony.
Former US presidents Barack Obama, George Bush and Bill Clinton came to pay their respects to Carter. Among those present are US President Joe Biden with First Lady Jill Biden, as well as Kamala Harris and Donald Trump with his wife Melania Trump.
Also present at the farewell ceremony are former Vice Presidents Mike Pence and Al Gore, as well as Vice President-elect JD Vance with his wife. And also Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who recently announced his resignation from the post of party leader.
After the memorial service, the late president’s body will be flown to his hometown of Plains, Georgia, where a private burial will take place at the family residence that evening.
