The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Breckelmans, said that Ukraine’s heroic struggle for freedom and democracy motivates us to provide it with what it needs.
“Ukraine makes Russia pay a high price for its aggression. For almost three years, Ukraine has held back Russia from major breakthroughs. This is an extraordinary achievement. However, I am deeply concerned about the continued Russian airstrikes and the involvement of North Korean troops. Ukraine’s heroic struggle for freedom and democracy motivates us to provide Ukraine with what it needs,” he said.
He emphasized that Ukraine needs air defense, artillery ammunition, drones and technologies to combat drones, as well as means for further development of the Ukrainian defense industry in these areas.
“I am not in a position to make assumptions about how long the war in Ukraine will last. However, Ukraine continues to surprise the world,” he answered Ukrinform’s question about how long the war in Ukraine might last.
Breckelmans also noted that Putin and his regime have made clear their own imperial aspirations toward other states they consider part of their sphere of influence.
“It is quite likely that if Russia achieves its goals in Ukraine, it will look in another direction,” he said.

“All the countries present today have gathered here because they are determined to help Ukraine resist Russian aggression. Here they find each other for cooperation in different directions. The contact group on the defense of Ukraine primarily discusses military support, not the development of new technologies.”
Breckelmans emphasized that he could not go into the details of the topics for discussion: “I cannot tell in more detail what we discussed in the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, because any information on this matter can help the aggressor,” he said.
As reported, the participants of the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (“Ramstein format”) together with the allies approved eight road maps that define the key goals of the Defense Forces of Ukraine until 2027.
