The German Football Association’s sports court awarded Bundesliga side Bochum a 2-0 win for their match against Union at the end of last year.
The game ended with a score of 1:1, but at the end of the meeting, fans of the Berlin team threw a lighter and hit the Bochum goalkeeper Patrick Dreves in the head.
The court said that changing the score of the match was the last option, but there was no choice given the injury to Dreves, who was not recommended by doctors to continue the match, as well as the reluctance of the Berliners to continue the game.
The Union is expected to file an appeal in the coming days.
The extra points could be important for Bochum, who are bottom of the table.
