More than half a hundred victims are in hospitals in Zaporizhzhia after the Russian airstrike on the city on January 8. Three of those hospitalized have traumatic amputations, the correspondent of Radio Svoboda reports.

“66 victims came to our hospital, 37 were hospitalized. Others were given medical assistance and refused hospitalization. Of the 37 patients who remained under our treatment, 9 patients are in the intensive care unit. 7 remain in stable serious condition and one patient is in extremely serious condition. Explosive trauma, acubarotrauma, open craniocerebral injuries, bone fractures, damage to internal organs. Three injured with amputations of a traumatic nature,” said Deputy Medical Director Tamila Ismailova, who hospitalized the largest number of injured.

The medical institution notes that the patients are in a difficult psychological state – psychologists work with them.

On the evening of January 8, the Russian army launched two anti-aircraft missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia, the local authorities reported. According to preliminary data, 13 people died, 32 were injured. In total, more than 80 people turned to city hospitals for help. The industrial and other infrastructure of the city was destroyed. Zaporozhye was struck at a time when people were returning home from work, in particular by public transport – minibus taxis and trams, which were moving with passengers along the street near the place of the strike, were damaged by debris.

Another 14 victims with herbs of varying degrees of severity were hospitalized in two more hospitals of the city, in particular, in one of them, two injured people are in a serious condition in the intensive care unit.

A 13-year-old child was also injured during the attack on Zaporizhzhia. The girl suffered a mild concussion and is currently undergoing outpatient treatment.

On January 8, the Russian military attacked Zaporozhye with aerial bombs. In the morning of January 9, the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, said that the number of wounded had increased to 113, ten of them in serious condition. 13 people died.

As a result of the Russian shelling, high-rise buildings, an industrial facility and other infrastructure of the city were destroyed.
