On January 9, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 12076 “On military duty and service”, people’s deputies reported from the parliament meeting hall.

According to People’s Deputy from the “Voice” party Yaroslav Zhelezniak, 298 parliamentarians supported the law.

He clarified that the law includes an amendment that stipulates that female volunteers, before basic training, take part in the military registration of conscripts of their own free will.

The law provides that from 2025, conscription will be abolished, and basic military training will be introduced instead.

Basic training will start on September 1, 2025 and will be held for students of higher education institutions and for citizens who are planning to enter the civil service, service in local self-government bodies or the prosecutor’s office for the first time, as well as for all those who want to.

Also, this document allows boys who turn 18 abroad to be registered without coming to Ukraine. They need to be identified in the “Rezerv+” application. Then a military registration document will be generated there.
