In the Chernihiv region, a former serviceman and two civilians were sentenced to life imprisonment. They were found guilty of premeditated murder of a man, a woman and their young child for the sake of $6,000.

Prosecutors proved in court that the ex-serviceman organized an armed criminal group, to which he involved two civilians – a man and a woman.
In May 2023, the organizer offered a man he knew from Kyiv to buy a car from him, and arranged a meeting at a non-working gas station in Chernihiv Oblast. The victim came there from Kyiv with his family – his wife and young son.
In preparation for committing the crime, the gang members replaced the number plates on the car, took with them a firearm with ammunition and a shovel.
Near the plantation, they shot the car with the whole family and seized their property, and to hide the traces of the crime, they buried the bodies of the couple and their 4-year-old son nearby. The car was set on fire, and the gang members divided the stolen $6,000 among themselves.
The next day, all members of the gang were arrested. They were found guilty of the intentional murder of three people, banditry, illegal handling of weapons, illegal possession of a vehicle, and intentional destruction of property. Two co-conspirators were also found guilty of possession of narcotics in large quantities.
The members of the gang were sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. Also, they must compensate the relatives of the deceased for 30 million hryvnias in moral damages.
