The US general revealed the strategic importance of the Ukrainian bridgehead in Kurshchyna

The US general revealed the strategic importance of the Ukrainian bridgehead in Kurshchyna Ben Godges called it “impressive” that the Armed Forces of Ukraine held the bridgehead in Kurshchyna since August. According to him, this creates political pressure on Putin and demonstrates the growth of the capabilities of the Ukrainian army.”, — write on: unn.ua

The Kursk operation should prove that Ukraine will not lose, and Russia is actually in a much weaker position today than a year ago. This is the opinion of retired US lieutenant general and ex-commander of the US Army in Europe Ben Godges. He stated this in a comment to the Voice of America, reports UNN.

According to Godges, the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region should help change the narrative that, as they say, “Russia will inevitably win one way or another, and Ukraine cannot stop them in any way.”

The lieutenant general said it was “impressive” that Ukrainian forces have been holding the Kursk bridgehead since August, and that Ukraine was able to build up new forces and prepare a new offensive without Russia noticing.

“This tells me that the Ukrainian forces have become even more experienced and capable of using electronic warfare, as well as what we call operational security,” said Godges.

In his opinion, the Kursk offensive also creates political pressure on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who “tried to ignore” the operation of the Armed Forces in the region in August, and then said twice that he should be removed by October 1 or January 1.

“Obviously, they didn’t succeed. And that’s why he has a real dilemma that his forces are unable to completely eliminate this bridgehead of the Ukrainian armed forces inside Russia,” Godges believes.

Also, according to Godges, the Ukrainian offensive disrupts the Kremlin’s plans to preserve the captured Ukrainian territories during future negotiations, stating that “the starting point is what is in place now, these things are being fixed.”

“I don’t think Russia would agree to Ukraine keeping part of the Kursk region. So for me, this highlights the true brilliance of the Ukrainian General Staff, which launched this counteroffensive back in August,” Godges said.

We will remind

The adviser to the head of the OP reported on the increase in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian military in the direction of Kursk. According to him, this territory can be used as a resource for exchange for occupied Ukrainian lands.

As the Institute for the Study of War pointed out, geolocation footage published on January 5 and 6 indicates that Ukrainian forces have recently advanced south of Berdin, Russkyi Porichchii, and Novosotnytskyi.

The Telegraph wrote that the Kursk region could probably be the beginning of the end for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in 2025.
