There is nothing surprising in the decline of trust in the president at the end of the third year of the war. Moreover, it is not very correct to compare the current ratings with the figures of 5 years ago.

In this way, political scientist Yevhen Magda commented to our publication the new KMIS opinion poll, which showed a serious decrease in trust in the head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

According to Magda, there is nothing surprising about the decline in ratings. This is a normal and natural process in politics: inflation of trust and inflation of influence. In addition, the political scientist looks somewhat skeptically at the very format of sociological surveys in modern Ukraine, because millions of people have become IDPs, millions have left, etc. Therefore, it is no longer necessary to expect the same indicators as there were once.

“Well, we have to understand that there is another factor. The maximum concentration of power leads to the maximum concentration of responsibility. That is, in the eyes of the people, Zelensky is responsible for everything good and everything bad that happens in the country. That is, we have a really serious concentration of power in the hands of the president. On the one hand, this corresponds to the norms of legislation, and on the other hand, it is a process that takes place, so to speak, due to the fact that our parliamentarians, our so-called monomajority, delegated a significant part of their powers, actually transferred them even to the president himself, and the Office the president, that is, advisers and so on. Therefore, this process is natural,” Magda said.

The expert sees the new ratings as a “serious signal” for Zelensky. The head of state just recently started talking about the prospects of his participation in the upcoming presidential elections.

“Finally, this is a signal to all of us that the government should change, that the government should be different. But in any case, the elections should be held after the end of hostilities, and not during them. This is also completely understandable. That’s why I think that this is not a tragedy, it’s just the realities of our life and they should be taken into account,” Yevhen Magda summed up.

Earlier we wrote about what other political scientists think about the new sociology of KMIS.
