Special operations forces, together with units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, destroyed five units of military equipment and eliminated four occupiers during the repulse of the Russian assault in the Kursk region, the SSO reported on Wednesday, January 8.
It is noted that the crews of SSO drones hit two tanks and three armored vehicles of the army of the aggressor country. Also, during an unsuccessful assault on Ukrainian positions in this direction, the Russians lost four soldiers.
The SSO does not specify the settlement, but indicates that the enemy assaults were repelled.
The new offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region — what is known
On January 5, information appeared about the start of a new offensive by Ukrainian forces in certain areas of the Kursk region.
Later, the fact of the attack was confirmed by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak and the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC Andriy Kovalenko.
As noted by the analysts of the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian troops really resumed offensive actions in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation in at least three areas and achieved tactical advances. According to Forbes, Russian and Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region launched separate but simultaneous attacks in different directions, and one offensive may have been designed to disrupt the other.
On January 7, the spokesman of the National Guard, Ruslan Muzychuk, said that Russia is forced to transfer new units to the Kursk region to strengthen its group.
