On the night of January 7, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 38 Shahed-type attack UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions of Millerovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk of the Russian Federation, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

“As of 09.00, the shooting down of 28 Shahed-type attack UAVs” and other types of UAVs in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Kirovohrad regions has been confirmed. No hits were recorded,” the post states.

According to the air defense forces, another 10 Russian simulator drones were lost in location (without negative consequences), three of them flew in the direction of Russia.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

In his New Year’s address, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that during the year during Russian air attacks, the air defense forces shot down 1,310 cruise and ballistic missiles and 7,800 Iranian Shaheds.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
