In the southwestern Chinese region of Tibet on the border with Nepal, a powerful earthquake occurred, as a result of which 53 people were killed and 62 others were injured.

Details: It is noted that the epicenter of the earthquake was Tingri County, which is part of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the 7.1-magnitude earthquake occurred at 9:05 a.m. local time and was accompanied by numerous aftershocks.
According to the state news agency Xinhua, more than 1,000 houses were damaged in Tingri County. At least 53 dead and 62 injured are currently known. Tremors were felt not only in China, but also in neighboring Nepal and northern regions of India.
