Nikita Leontiev (real name ENLEO) answered why he listened to Russian songs during the war.Last month, the artist became a star of the network. The reason was a video in which he admitted that he was listening to Russian tracks. His audition history included songs by Russian rappers Oxxxymiron, LSP and Markul.
In an interview with Slava Dyomin, the performer stated that he allegedly refused the works of artists from the terrorist country even at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. According to him, he even launched a flash mob to “displace” Russian music from the Ukrainian music charts.
However, in December, Nikita decided to review what new tracks were released in Oxxxymiron. Forgetting about his rule not to listen to songs on streaming services, he listened to some of the rapper’s compositions on the platform.
“The night before that video, I came across some Oxxxymiron tiktok, and because I had really listened to a few of his songs before the war, I decided to see what he was up to, and I flipped through those songs, read the lyrics. I made a big mistake, because it was done on the platforms of Apple Music, when you listen to this song, you pay a very, very small penny there. We used to struggle with that once Morgenstern was kicked out of the first place in the charts. But over time, I forgot about it and listened to it myself,” said Leontiev.

“I didn’t break the rules of the National Selection, I broke an important unwritten rule for a Ukrainian artist. I’m really sorry that this happened. I learned an important lesson from this: I won’t go to listen to a Russian song even once again. Because these auditions weren’t because of love to those songs, or to those artists, but purely out of interest,” ENLEO noted.
By the way, the artist has not yet made it to the finals of the National Selection. From January 13 to 17, he will be voted on, during which the tenth finalist will be determined.
