Emergency services: two children were blown up by an unknown object in Donetsk region

Two 11-year-old boys blew themselves up on an unknown explosive device in Donetsk region, the State Emergency Service reported on January 6.

“It happened today, on the outskirts of the city of Dobropillya, Pokrovsky District. Previously, the children were walking and came across VNP. They were hospitalized with leg injuries. Currently, experts are establishing all the circumstances of this event,” the message reads.

The State Emergency Service stressed that if a suspicious object is found, you should not approach it or touch it, you should call rescuers.

According to the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Defense and Environmental Security, as of October 1, 2024, 1,041 civilians have been injured by landmines and explosive remnants of war since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Among the victims are 99 children and 942 adults.

Rescuers reported that a third of the total area of ​​Ukraine is potentially dangerous due to mines.
