Blinken’s direct speech: “We have reason to believe that Moscow intends to share advanced space and satellite technologies with Pyongyang.”
Details: Blinken indicated that cooperation between Russia and North Korea is a cause for concern for the US and its key allies such as South Korea and Japan.
He emphasized that the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, “may be close to changing the policy that has lasted for decades by accepting the nuclear program of North Korea.”
“This concern is in the center of attention not only in the United States, but also in Korea and Japan,” Blinken noted.
The US Secretary of State noted that North Korea’s close alliance with Russia underscores the need for increased security cooperation between the US, South Korea and Japan, as well as with NATO, as security in the Indo-Pacific region and Europe is becoming increasingly interconnected.
Note that while Blinken was visiting Seoul, North Korea launched a ballistic missile medium-range missile that flew more than 1,100 kilometers to the east and fell into the sea, according to the South Korean military.
