The President of Ukraine said this in an interview with American journalist Lex Friedman.
During the conversation, the interviewer invited Zelenskyi to come to the inauguration of the President of the United States, to which the Ukrainian leader replied as follows:
“I would like to. Of course, I will look at what is happening with us now, because there are difficult, escalating moments, many rockets, etc. Well, I can’t come, especially in wartime, unless President Trump invites me. It’s not pretty,” the president said.
Zelensky added that he is not one of those leaders who will come without an invitation. He cannot afford it.
“I know that in general, leaders are not invited to the inauguration of US presidents. I know leaders who can come by themselves. But it’s very difficult for me, I can’t visit without an invitation,” explained the head of the Ukrainian state.
