During the year, the police recorded more than 340 cases of setting fire to military vehicles. In 2023, these were isolated cases.
Deputy head of the National Police, Andrii Nebytov, reports this.
According to him, since the beginning of 2024, the special services of the Russian Federation began actively recruiting Ukrainians through social networks with the aim of committing terrorist attacks, damaging property, obstructing the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces, and committing sabotage.
“If we take individual cases of setting fire to the cars of military personnel, as of today we have recorded 341 such crimes,” said Nebitov.
The deputy head of the National Police noted that most of the arsons were carried out in the spring-summer period. Law enforcement officers have already announced suspicions in 219 cases of burning cars.
Nebytov added that last year these were isolated cases.
It is worth noting that Russian special services recruit Ukrainians, often teenagers, to carry out sabotage on the territory of Ukraine. They set fire to military vehicles, and also set fire to railways and power stations. Sabotage against the police, security forces and the military has also intensified recently.
We will remind that the police detained a young man from Bereziv region (Odesa region) on suspicion of setting fire to the premises of the village council: the hall in the administration building was completely burnt down.
The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, exposed five more people who acted on the order of the Russian special services and set fire to military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained six more agents of the Russian special services who committed arson in the Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions.
Earlier, in Dnipro and Slovyansk (Donetsk region), the Security Service and the National Police detained two henchmen of the Russian special services who set fire to military vehicles and facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia.
