Putin created a new position for Shoigu in the Security Council of the Russian Federation

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin created a scientific and expert council under the Security Council of the Russian Federation, with Sergei Shoigu as its chairman. Astra writes about it, passes it on UNN.

Putin signed a decree on the creation of a scientific expert council under the Security Council of Russia. The ex-Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, became its head.

This council should contribute to the improvement of “Russia’s security policy” in various spheres, in particular in the military and technological fields.

Earlier, in 2022, Putin also created an interdepartmental commission of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for ensuring the technological sovereignty of the state, and Dmytro Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Security Council, became its head.

Let’s add

This council is supposed to deal with issues of “technological sovereignty”, however, considering Russia’s war against Ukraine, such a step looks more like an attempt to strengthen internal control. And the appointment of Shoigu, who is loyal to Putin and has extensive experience in the power structures, may indicate the Kremlin’s intention to strengthen the influence of the military and security forces in key areas of the country.
