A few months ago, these guys appeared in the reports of the border service, and now – in the lists of fighters of one of the most powerful units. “Riko” and “Fartovy” are the heroes of an unusual story who tried to escape from Ukraine in the back of a truck, but now defend its freedom on the front lines. Escape and detention
In the summer two men were among a large group of dodgers, who tried to cross the border in the body of a KamAZ. Each of them paid 150 thousand hryvnias to the organizers of the illegal scheme. The escape plan, which seemed to be “as reliable as a Swiss watch”, ended up being detained at the border.
An unexpected opportunity
Instead of administrative responsibility, “Riko” and “Fartovy” ended up in the ranks of the Armed Forces, in the company of the RUBPAK 28 OMBr. At first, the men were afraid that their past would affect the way they were treated in the military. But everything turned out to be the opposite: they were accepted as equals.
Perseverance and transformation
After long training and exercises, they became part of a combat team. “Earlier we planned to pluck strawberries, but now we are plucking the occupiers,” the boys themselves joke. According to the commanders, new recruits demonstrate motivation, endurance and a desire to work for results.
Life on the front lines
The former evaders radically changed their attitude towards the army. Now they believe in a team that is getting closer to victory every day. “We want to see the results of our work, help our people, and most importantly – return home to our relatives with victory,” the fighters say. This story is a reminder that even in the most difficult circumstances there is room for change, perseverance and serving a greater purpose.
