Another group of children from the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russian troops was brought to Belarus, Gomelska Pravda reports. According to the publication, these are pupils of a boarding house from the city of Anthracite, Luhansk region, which has been occupied since 2014. They were sent to the “Dubrovenka” sanatorium near Mogilev. Another 40 children and adults from the occupied Donetsk, Luhansk and Mariupol “went for recovery” to the Vitebsk region.

The children were brought to Belarus by the charity fund of the pro-government activist Oleksiy Talai. The USA, the EU and Ukraine previously imposed sanctions against him for organizing the removal of children from the occupied Ukrainian territories.

The deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet, the head of the People’s Anti-Crisis Administration (NAU), Pavlo Latushko, said that the International Criminal Court had submitted materials regarding three types of crimes committed by the Belarusian regime: deportation, persecution of Belarusians abroad, and “other inhumane acts of similar severity.”

In 2023, the European Parliament called on the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Alexander Lukashenko. In the resolution voted by the deputies, it was said that he is involved in the war against Ukraine and is an accomplice in the removal of Ukrainian children to the so-called health camps in Belarus, where “they are subjected to Russification and ideological processing.”

“The European Parliament considers Lukashenka as responsible for these war crimes as Vladimir Putin and Maria Lviva-Belova, and therefore calls on the ICC to consider the issue of issuing a similar international warrant for Lukashenka’s arrest,” the text of the document reads.
