The Armed Forces captured a wounded North Korean soldier – South Korean intelligence

South Korean intelligence confirmed on December 27 that the Ukrainian military captured a wounded North Korean soldier who fought on the side of Russia. This is reported by the Yonhap agency with reference to the National Intelligence Service of South Korea.

“Thanks to the real-time exchange of information with the intelligence service of a friendly country, we have confirmed the capture of a wounded North Korean soldier and plan to carefully study the further development of events,” the intelligence comments said.

The Yonhap agency reminds that on December 26, the Ukrainian site “Military” reported on the capture of a North Korean in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

A photo of a captured North Korean soldier, who is believed to have been injured, was previously circulated on Telegram. Details about the condition and status of the soldier are still unknown.

According to South Korean intelligence, at least 100 North Korean soldiers stationed in Russia were killed and another 1,000 were injured during battles with Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk region.

A spokesman for the US Department of Defense said on December 19 that “several hundred North Korean forces have suffered casualties or several hundred casualties ranging from killed in action to wounded.”

Yonhap Agency, citing South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, reported on December 23 that North Korea may be preparing to deploy additional units and military equipment to Russia in support of Moscow’s war against Ukraine.
