“Another American fighter jet was almost shot down by “friendly fire” during a mission over the Red Sea,” the publication said.
It said the F/A-18 Super Hornet was forced into an “evasive maneuver” and an SM-2 missile fired by the cruiser USS Gettysburg passed within 30 meters of it. The incident occurred when the combat aircraft was preparing to land on the aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman.
Currently, the military is investigating whether there was an enemy target nearby.
