On Thursday, December 26, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky presented defenders with the highest state awards – the Golden Stars of Heroes of Ukraine – and a special combat award – the Cross of Combat Merit. The awards of the fallen soldiers were received by their relatives. The head of the Ukrainian state posted a video of the presentation on the page of the Office of the President.
– Today, the day after Christmas, we celebrate with high state awards – the Golden Stars of the Heroes of Ukraine – and a special combat award – the Cross of combat merits – our bravest soldiers, most loyal people,” Zelenskyi said.
He noted that there are almost 200 independent states in the world, each of them has its own character and reason why this state is on earth. “Our people are such a reason for Ukraine,” said the President.
On behalf of all of Ukraine, he thanked the soldiers. Zelensky emphasized that “Ukraine will respect everyone who saved it. Eternal memory to all those who gave their lives for the sake of Ukraine”
- On December 25, the president, together with the rabbis of Ukraine, lit Hanukkah candles. Zelensky congratulated the Jewish community on the holiday. He wished all families peace, joy and a generous fate.
