The state budget received more than $1.2 billion from the Japanese government under World Bank projects.

This was reported by the Ministry of Finance.

Thus, Ukraine received a $602 million loan within the scope of the project Investing in social protection to increase coverage, sustainability and effectiveness” (INSPIRE), which aims to ensure social protection of low-income and vulnerable sections of the population of Ukraine during and after the war, improve access to social services and assistance, etc.

At the same time, $400 million of the loan came to the state budget in December 2024 as part of the implementation of the program Supporting reconstruction through prudent fiscal management” (SURGE), which is aimed at creating the right environment and institutional norms for effective and accountable implementation and financing of climate-oriented recovery.

Ukraine also received a $250 million loan during November-December 2024 as part of the program Sustainable, inclusive and ecologically balanced entrepreneurship” (RISE) aimed at solving critical problems that hinder the growth and sustainable development of the private sector.

Also, in December 2024, the state budget received $220 million as part of the implementation of the program Transforming healthcare through reform and investment in efficiency” (THRIVE), aimed at improving the efficiency of public spending on health care.

In addition, Ukraine received $200 million in November-December 2024 as part of the program Increasing the accessibility and sustainability of education in the conditions of the crisis in Ukraine” (LEARN), the purpose of which is to improve the educational process in Ukraine under martial law by creating safe and comfortable conditions for educators and students.

As reported, Japan will transfer $3 billion from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
