Details: According to the ambassador, over the past three years, the Netherlands has been supporting Ukraine in various ways – morally, humanitarian aid, reconstruction aid, economic, and military aid.

“So far, 3.8 billion euros have already arrived, but another six billion are planned. Thus, the Netherlands allocated more than 10 billion euros of military aid, of which almost four have already arrived,” he said.

Dorhout shared that energy is one of the priorities for the Netherlands in helping Ukraine.

“We have already done a lot to support your country, and we are constantly looking for new opportunities. Colleagues are constantly in touch with the Ukrainian side to understand how else we can help Ukraine survive this winter,” the ambassador noted.

The diplomat stressed that the fight against Russian aggression “is not only in the interests of Ukraine, but also in the interests of Europe”, because it is about protecting security, prosperity and values.

In this context, he noted the importance of Ukraine’s accession to the EU, as there is a separate provision on security in the Treaty on the European Union.

“When the war ends, the EU will definitely have a long-term relationship with Ukraine, and I believe that everything that the EU and its member states are doing now in terms of providing military assistance to Ukraine will partially shift towards economic support, reconstruction, etc.,” Dorhout added. .

In early December, the Netherlands announced its intention to allocate an additional 22 million euros to Ukraine for initiatives related to the development of cyber resistance and air defense systems.

The country also announced its intention to transfer to Ukraine two mine countermeasures ships Zr.Ms. Makkum and Vlaardingen.
