The Czech company Škoda JS from the ČEZ group secretly delivered eight new drives for the Rivne NPP reactors to Ukraine. This is reported by Novinky, Ukrinform reports. The leading European company completed the delivery before Christmas and handed over 8 new drives for two reactors of the VVER 440 type. “Due to repeated Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, we are only reporting this now that we have delivered the last cargo to its destination,” explained Karel, a spokesman for the Pilsen engineering company Samets. Advertisement: According to him, the devices ensure the stable operation of the reactor and allow it to be regulated, which will help ensure a stable supply of electricity to a war-torn country. Recently, ÚJV Řež, which is also part of the ČEZ Group, produced and delivered a special cable to strengthen the containment building of the reactor. It weighs thirteen tons and measures one hundred and seventy-three meters. According to the contract, Škoda JS sent 76 storage devices to the Rivne NPP. Most of them are already installed and working. The rest are ready to replace those who will complete the work. Advertisement: The cost of the contract is not disclosed at the request of the customer. ŠKODA JS is currently the only manufacturer in the world that can supply this type of drive to Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Another alternative producer is only Russia. The company expects to expand cooperation, including with the South Ukrainian NPP. ŠKODA JS is also actively working in connection with the already publicized expansion plan of the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
