“The court announced a guilty verdict against a 50-year-old man, whose Central Asian shepherd dog attacked a girl. He was found guilty of negligently causing moderate bodily harm to the victim (Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the prosecutor’s office said.
According to the judgment of the Desnyan District Court of Kyiv, the man was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment and 1 year of probation.
The prosecutor proved in court that a man, walking a dog of the Central Asian shepherd breed, which is classified as a dangerous dog breed, in the yard of a high-rise building, was obliged to put a muzzle on it and keep it on a leash. Instead, the owner left the shepherd unattended and went to the supermarket himself.
“Since the accused left the dog alone, she, seeing another dog, rushed at him. The victim, protecting her animal, covered it with herself. At that time, the shepherd dog bit into the girl’s face with her teeth, causing her moderate injuries. Passers-by saw this and rushed to pull the dog away from the girl,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The accused owner of the sheepdog admitted his guilt in full, voluntarily compensates moral and material damage to the girl.
