The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Strategy for the development and construction of border infrastructure with the countries of the European Union and the Republic of Moldova until 2030 developed by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development. It is noted that the document provides for the reconstruction of 29 checkpoints and the construction of 17 new ones, as well as the modernization of the railway infrastructure, including the reconstruction of tracks, multimodal terminals and electrification. Advertisement: Among the main goals of the Strategy are to increase the capacity of the border infrastructure, to introduce joint customs and border control with neighboring countries, digitalization of border crossings and creation of a network of waiting areas. The document envisages the signing of agreements on joint control with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, as well as the introduction of mechanisms for forecasting peak freight and passenger flows.
