On the eve of Christmas, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, during which he emphasized that Ukraine is making every effort to make 2025 a year of just and lasting peace for our country and the whole world.

“On the eve of Christmas, I had a telephone conversation with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. He thanked His Holiness for his spiritual support of Ukraine and prayers for the Ukrainian people, and also congratulated him on the coming holidays – Christmas and New Year. “Ukraine is doing everything to make 2025 a year of just and lasting peace for our country and the whole world,” Zelenskyi said.
The President noted the importance of the Patriarchate’s efforts to support Ukraine among the world religious community, as well as the steps aimed at Ukraine gaining spiritual independence.
“I am grateful to Patriarch Bartholomew for wishing the Ukrainian people strength, courage and God’s blessing, as well as for a Merry Christmas,” Zelenskyy added.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier used his traditional Christmas address to call for unity in light of recent events in the country.
