On Tuesday, December 24, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, congratulated Ukrainians on Christmas and urged them to unite in prayer for “victory and just peace.” He wrote about it on his Facebook page.

My special and warmest greetings to the Ukrainian Christian soldiers who celebrate this holiday not in the family circle, but are now repelling the attacks of the Russian occupiers on the front line! Sincere respect and gratitude of the entire Ukrainian people for your feat and devotion to Ukraine,” he said.

Let’s unite this day in prayer for Ukraine, for its defenders, for victory, just peace and a blessed future of our Motherland and our people! We believe that with God’s help, the darkness will recede, and joy, goodness and blessings will reign in every Ukrainian home,” said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians on Christmas. The video address of the president was published on his official pages in social networks.

Zelensky noted that despite everything, Ukrainians “have not lost their values, and therefore today we honor all those who gave their lives protecting us.”

In 2023, OCU and UGCC switched to the Julian calendar, so the dates of church holidays changed. In particular, one of the biggest religious holidays, Christmas, will be officially celebrated on December 25 for the second year.
