Ford has joined a group of major technology companies that have pledged to make large donations to the future president’s inaugural fund.
According to The Hill, the tariffs and EV policies being considered by the new administration will affect Detroit automakers such as Ford, which has struggled to ramp up production and sell its battery-powered models.
Trump, a Republican, has proposed imposing high tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, as well as eliminating tax breaks for electric cars that benefit Ford.
Ford CEO Jim Farley told reporters that he is optimistic and believes that Donald Trump will be “open to hearing the American automaker’s point of view on these actions.”
Given Ford’s employment (profile) and its importance to the U.S. economy and manufacturing, one would expect the administration to be very interested in Ford’s perspective
The company did not specify which vehicles were donated and whether they will be part of Trump’s inauguration motorcade or will be used for general purposes in his new administration.
