The case is finally closed: US special prosecutor Kari Morrissey has withdrawn her appeal to the New Mexico state court regarding the murder by Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin of cameraman of Ukrainian origin Galina Hutchins on the set of the film “Rust”. This is reported by Reuters, writes UNN.

Details

Prosecutors sought to appeal Themis’ decision to dismiss Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter charges. The case even reached a jury trial due to procedural issues. In the end, the prosecutor admitted that further promotion of the complaint was futile.

The actor’s lawyers said that the decision to withdraw the appeal finally confirms what they assured from the beginning – “the incident on the set was an unspeakable tragedy, but Alec Baldwin did not commit any crime.”

For reference

42-year-old Halyna Hutchins was shot with a gun that Baldwin used during a rehearsal for the western “Rust”, which was filmed in New Mexico. As a result of the incident, director Joel Souza was also injured.

We will remind

Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter charges were unexpectedly dismissed by a New Mexico court after investigators withheld evidence that could have implicated the actor in the fatal stabbing of cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust.
