Details
The contract, awarded under the Defense Production Act (DPA), will enable Williams International to expand its production capacity for gas turbine engines. This is necessary to increase the volume of production of the following types of weapons:
– Harpoon anti-ship missiles;
– AGM-158 JASSM air-to-surface missiles;
– AGM-158C LRASM long-range anti-ship missiles;
– Tomahawk cruise missiles and other high-precision strike weapons.
The US Department of Defense noted that for the implementation of the contract funds provided under the DPA procurement program (DPAP), provided for by the Act on Additional Appropriations for Security Needs in the Indo-Pacific Region for 2024, as well as the Law on Additional Appropriations for Security Needs in Ukraine, are being used for 2024.
It is noted that the efforts will contribute to increasing the production capacity of critical materials needed to protect against enemy aggression.
Helping to produce and support gas turbine engines for military applications, Williams will expand capacity and increase domestic engine production to meet the DoD’s demand for more precision strike weapons and unmanned systems
The Pentagon also emphasized that this contract is one of five awards made by the DPAP program office in various areas for a total of $290.8 million since the beginning of fiscal year 2025.
