Details: The military was told that Albek worked in a command and control center located in the building of the Musa Ibn Nusayra school in Duray Taffa in the Gaza Strip, which was used by Hamas for military purposes.
The IDF said that the Hamas Security Directorate is responsible for intelligence assessments that help make strategic decisions, as well as the security of the group’s high-ranking officials, providing them with places to hide.
“Albek was a central figure in the security mechanisms and played an important role in the decision-making process,” the IDF said in a statement.
The IDF noted that “prior to the attack, the Israeli military took numerous measures to reduce the risk of harm to the civilian population – the attack used high-precision munitions, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence.”
Prehistory:
- At the end of September, Israel eliminated the leader and one of the founders of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah. Together with him, the IDF eliminated Ali Karki, the commander of the Southern Front of Hezbollah, and other commanders of Hezbollah.
- On October 17, Israel announced the elimination of the leader of the group “Hamas” Yahya Sinwar.
- Sinwar became the political leader of Hamas in early August. He replaced Ismail Haniya, who was killed by the IDF in late July in a strike on his residence in Tehran.
