Organizers said the prime minister’s meeting with Putin on Sunday would increase Russian influence and use the issue of gas transit to promote cooperation with Russia. “Traitor,” shouted the crowd at Fico.
Former Prime Ministers Ihor Matovych and Eduard Geger, opposition leaders, as well as artists and Ukrainian refugees took part in the protest.
According to representatives of the “Peace of Ukraine” public association, Fico could have violated the law by his trip, as he cooperates with the aggressor. Today they plan to file a complaint with the General Prosecutor’s Office of Slovakia.
After the protest ended, the crowd chanted “Enough Fitso” and “Glory to Ukraine”.
On Sunday, December 22, the Prime Minister of Slovakia arrived on a working visit to Moscow, where held talks with Putin.
The talks discussed issues of the international agenda, as well as the transit of Russian gas.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi criticized Fico’s visit to Putin.
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini expects Prime Minister Robert Fico more information about the results his meetings with Putin.
